One trek, three countries, ten days, 160 kilometres (100 miles), and thousands of steps: even these impressive figures cannot fully reflect the range of emotions you will experience on the TMB!
This circuit is the full version of the mythical TMB. It will enable you to discover the extraordinary diversity of landscapes in the Mont Blanc mountain range.
Immerse yourself in a spectacle of nature with varied flora and fauna, while enjoying your walk with a lightweight pack. In the evenings, your luggage will be waiting for you in accommodation selected for its comfort. You will sleep in private rooms every night.

Full Tour du Mont Blanc : the programme in detail
Day 1: Les Houches – Bionnassay
5 hrs walking time – Accommodation: inn – 850 m (2,625 ft) ascent / 300 m (9850 ft) descent / 8kms
You’ll meet your guide and the group at the Prarion cable car in Les Houches at 9 am. The adventure begins with a hike through the forest, taking you up to the Prarion summit (1969m), where you’ll enjoy your first breathtaking 360° panoramic view.
Afterward, you’ll make your way down to the village of Bionnassay for the evening.
 
Day 2: Bionnassay – Les Contamines
6 hrs walking time – Accommodation: gîte – 950 m (3,115 ft) ascent / 1,300 m (4,265 ft) descent 13 to 15kms
Get ready to be wowed on this second day of hiking! Following a stunning trail at the base of the glaciers, you’ll pass the Col de Tricot (2120m) and cross the alpine pasture of Truc.
At the end of the day, you’ll make your way down to the village of Les Contamines to spend the night.
 
Day 3: Les Contamines – Les Chapieux
7 hrs walking time – Accommodation: Hotel – 1,330 m (4,365 ft) ascent / 940 m (3,085 ft) descent / 18kms
This morning, you’ll begin your ascent along the path that follows the ancient Roman road, leading you to the Col du Bonhomme (2,408 m / 7,900 ft) and the Col des Fours (2,665 m / 8,740 ft).
After enjoying a picnic with stunning panoramic views, you’ll continue your journey into the Les Chapieux valley, a region renowned for its Beaufort cheese production!
 
Day 4: Les Chapieux – Courmayeur
6 hrs walking time – Accommodation: Hotel – 740 m (2,430 ft) ascent / 1,060 m (3,480 ft) descent / 16kms
Today promises to be a spectacular day with stunning views of Mont Blanc! Begin with an ascent to the Col de la Seigne (2,514 m / 8,250 ft), which marks the border between France and Italy. From there, you’ll descend into the Aosta Valley via Val Veny. As you reach the Italian side of Monte Bianco, you descend to Courmayeur, the Italian “Chamonix”.
 
Day 5: Col Checrouit – Refuge Bonatti – Courmayeur
6 hrs walking time – Accommodation: Hotel – 1,090 m (3,575 ft) ascent / 600 m (1,970 ft) descent / 14kms
From Courmayeur, the route ascends towards Val Sapin and the Bertone refuge. The journey continues with a stunning traverse leading to the Bonatti refuge, followed by a descent to the valley.
Finally, a bus transfer will take you back to your hotel in Courmayeur.
 
Day 6: Courmayeur – Arnouva – La Fouly
6 hrs 30 walking time – Accommodation: inn – 850 m (2,790 ft) ascent / 1,000 m (3,280 ft) descent / 14kms
On the sixth day of your Tour du Mont Blanc, you’ll step into a new country once again! After a short transfer to Arnouva, you’ll begin your journey with breathtaking views of Mont Dolent before crossing the Grand Col Ferret into Switzerland.
The day concludes with a gentle descent through the scenic mountain pastures of La Peule, leading to the charming village of La Fouly—a postcard-perfect setting in the Valais region.
 
Day 7: La Fouly – Champex
6 hrs 30 walking time – Accommodation: hotel – 600 m (1,970 ft) ascent / 700 m (2,295 ft) descent / 18kms
Today, you’ll explore Switzerland’s Val Ferret, passing through its charming traditional villages before reaching Champex and its picturesque lake. Find your accommodation on the lake’s shores.
 
Day 8: Champex – Trient
Accommodation: inn
Choice 1: 5 hrs 30 walking time / 780m (2,560 ft) ascent / 1000m (3,280 ft) descent / 15kms
Choice 2: 7 hrs walking time / 1150m (3,775 ft) ascent / 1400m (4,595 ft) / 15kms
Today’s journey features a stunning high-level traverse above Martigny, offering panoramic views. In the distance, the vineyards of the Rhône Valley showcase Switzerland’s rich winemaking tradition. You’ll then descend toward the quaint village of Trient, following the scenic Bisse du Trient irrigation channel.
Depending on the group’s energy and weather conditions, there may be an opportunity to take the majestic alpine route via the Fenêtre d’Arpette (2,665 m / 8,740 ft). Your guide will choose the best option for the day.
 
Day 9: Trient – Argentière
6 hrs walking time – Accommodation: Hotel – 1,000 m (3,280 ft) ascent / 1,030 m (3,380 ft) descent / 16kms
Today, you’ll cross back into France, with the views of the Chamonix Valley unfolding spectacularly as the day goes on. Your journey leads to the charming village of Argentière, where a cozy hotel awaits for a restful night.
 
Day 10: Argentière – Chamonix
7 hrs walking time – 1,350 m (4,430 ft) ascent / 650 m (2,130 ft) descent / 14 à 16kms
On the final day of your hike, you’ll venture into the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve, following a high-altitude trail that offers breathtaking views of Mont Blanc—one of the most iconic panoramas in the Chamonix Valley!
From there, you’ll descend to La Flégère before embarking on another stunning traverse to Planpraz. A cable car will take you down to the center of Chamonix and you continue by bus to Les Houches.
Your adventure comes full circle, concluding around 4:30 PM.

Comfort option
The 9 nights are booked in bedrooms on twin sharing basis, in hotels and/or inns. Please let us know if you would like a double bed or two twin beds.
In case you are alone to book the tour, you will be sharing the room with a person of the same sex.
Depending on the accommodation, bathroom facilities may be shared.
Luggage transport
The transfer of one piece of luggage per person is provided every day between the different accommodations: a soft bag, of the duffle bag type, of a maximum of 12kg per person.
You only carry your day’s belongings, in a backpack of about 30L.
Level
Ideally, you should have some hiking and/or trekking experience before embarking on this type of trek, but any physically fit beginner is welcome to join us. We’re here to guide you.
Between 6 and 8 hours’ walking per day throughout the trek, with some more difficult sections, particularly at the start of the season when the snow is still present. You should be able to climb at least 1,000 m (3 200ft.) a day for several days in a row.
We strongly recommend that you practice an endurance sport regularly and train specifically for this trek.
Access and accommodation
Access to the starting point:
Meet at the Prarion cable car, in Les Houches, on the departure day at 9:00 AM.
By car: You can park your vehicle at the TMB parking lot in Les Houches. It is a free outdoor parking area and can get very busy in peak season. Anticipate your parking in high season.
By train: The Prarion is located 10 minutes walk away from the “Viaduc Sainte Marie” train station.

By bus: From the city-center of Chamonix, the bus line n°1 takes you to the Prarion, last stop of the bus line.
Return to the starting point: End of the trip in Chamonix. Return by bus to Les Houches.

Equipment
Even if you choose to do it in summer, it can get cold on the TMB! We strongly recommend that you pack clothes suitable for a multi-day hike, such as:
- A fleece
- A windproof and waterproof jacket
- Walking trousers.
The terrain is varied and we recommend you wear high walking boots to protect your ankles.
The accommodations provide blankets and pillows, but you will need a silk sheet, for hygienic reasons, even if you are booked on the comfort option. Sleeping bags are not allowed.

Insurance
To travel with peace of mind, Trekking Mont Blanc offers two insurance policies in partnership with Assur Travel, specially designed to meet the needs of a trek such as the Tour du Mont Blanc. These options, Cancellation and Multirisk, provide coverage to deal with unforeseen circumstances throughout your trip.
Cancellation Insurance :
This option covers the cancellation of your trip for a valid reason (illness, accident, etc.) before the departure date. You will be reimbursed for the amounts paid, subject to the conditions specified in the policy.
- Cost : 3.15% of the trip price
- Subscription : Mandatory upon registration
- In case of cancellation, you should contact the insurance company directly to file your claim, with our team’s assistance if needed.
Multirisk Insurance :
The Multirisk option offers comprehensive coverage, including :
- Cancellation Insurance
- Emergency repatriation assistance : perfectly suited for mountain treks
- Mountain search and rescue costs : up to €30,000
- Luggage: in case of loss, theft, or damage
- Medical expenses abroad
- Individual accident insurance
- Civil liability abroad
- Inability to return or quarantine in case of an epidemic
- Cost : 4.45% of the trip price
- Subscription : Mandatory upon registration
Whether you choose the Cancellation or Multirisk option, you will benefit from optimal coverage to enjoy your adventure with complete peace of mind. The insurance cost depends on the price of your trip, and you can select the desired option when booking.

- The balance must be paid at least one month before the beginning of your trek.

Our company helps you arrange private shuttles in order to move around the Mont Blanc region.
Our team can arrange the transfer from your place of arrival (Chamonix train station, Geneva airport, etc) and the place of your stay, the starting point of your trek, for example.
